  • Madame Monet and her son, sometimes referred to as "The Stroll" depicts his wife Camille Monet and their son Jean Monet in Argenteuil, France. One of Monet's most recognized Impressionist pieces, it was the source of much inspiration to artists and collectors alike.

The painting was originally sold to Monet's homeopath Georges de Bellio in November of 1876 as payment for services.

The masterpiece exchanged hands a number of times and ultimately found its way to the collection of American philanthropist Paul Mellon. In 1983, the Mellon estate donated the painting to the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.

The piece is signed "Claude Monet 75" toward the bottom right. The aspect ratio of the painting has been preserved to display the work in its entirety.
